Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Wilfried Gnonto during the upcoming summer transfer window.

With the next summer transfer period on the horizon, the Blues have set their sights on bringing another top-flight figure to Stamford Bridge, but face some competition in doing so.

According to a recent report from Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) Chelsea, as well as fellow Premier League clubs Arsenal and Manchester City, are interested in signing Gnonto and could make a move for him in the summer if Leeds United end up getting relegated.

The report also adds that Leeds would want to pick up between €30-40m (£26-35m) for their winger, who Chelsea and Arsenal both believe would be able to improve should he join them.

It’s also stated that Chelsea are convinced that he can become even more of a star.

Leeds signed the attacker from FC Zurich during the previous summer transfer window in a deal worth a reported fee of £3.8m.

Since then, the Italian has scored two goals and provided three assists in 16 Premier League appearances with the Whites.

Across those appearances, the 19-year-old has put himself in the top five at Leeds for the average of shots (1.1), key passes  (1.1) and dribbles per game (1) he’s made.

Would you take Wilfried Gnonto at Chelsea?

Having been described as an “electric” player by journalist James Marshment, Gnonto has one of the highest rates of points per match (1.06) at Leeds, showing how important he is for the team in terms of picking up positive results.

Moving forward, if Chelsea are looking to launch a transfer move for the Leeds star this summer, we feel they may have to get rid of some of their current attacking options if they want to make room for Gnonto and give him the space to be a regular figure in the team.
