Chelsea are reportedly in the mix to secure a summer transfer deal for Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.

Despite still having over three years left on his current contract at the Italian club, the midfielder has found himself on the radar of several clubs across Europe.

According to a recent report from Sport (via Sport Witness), Chelsea, alongside Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Brozovic this summer.

The report also adds that the player is aware of the interest in him and could look to make a move away from Inter this summer due to his lack or regular starts.

Specifically, the 30-year-old, who is Inter’s highest earner with a weekly wage of £189k per week, has only started 11 of the 18 games he’s appeared in across all competitions this season.

Throughout his 15 Serie A appearances, the veteran has one of the highest passing accuracy percentages (86.9%) at Inter as well as having the joint-second highest average of interceptions per game (1.2).

This highlights how effective Brozovic, who has been hailed for a “stunning” goal he scored last season by journalist Carlo Garganese, can be on and off the ball.

The player also showcased this during the World Cup in Qatar as he ended the tournament with the fourth-highest passing accuracy percentage (88.8%) in the Croatia squad as well as the fifth-highest average of tackles per game (2.2) across his six appearances.

Would Marcelo Brozovic be a good signing for Chelsea?

No

This makes it easy to see why numerous clubs across Europe, such as Chelsea, have their eyes on the player and could make a move for him in the summer.

Looking ahead to the next summer transfer window, even though Chelsea currently have a significant number of players in the squad, particularly midfield players, securing a potential deal for a capable and experienced figure like Brozovic could end up being a very smart move for Todd Boehly and Graham Potter to make.
