Chelsea have reportedly made an enquiry over a potential summer transfer move for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone.

Having already been linked with a Premier League move during the previous January transfer window, it has been claimed that the 21-year-old may have another pathway to England in front of him once the summer rolls around.

According to a recent report from SportBILD (via Sport Witness), Kone is likely to leave Monchengladbach this summer, with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain already enquiring about the player.

The report also adds that the midfielder would like to make a move to the Premier League, which would obviously favour Chelsea, although his family comes from Paris, which could sway him into joining the French club.

With 112 combined appearances under his belt for Monchengladbach and his previous club Toulouse, the 21-year-old has scored 10 goals and delivered three assists.

This season has seen the youngster play more minutes than any other Monchengladbach player in the Bundesliga, showing how important he is for the club.

Across his 23 appearances, Kone has made more progressive passes (130), recoveries (174) and carries into the final third of the pitch (36) than any other player at the club, as well as having the highest combined total of tackles and interceptions (84).

This shows how much of an effective player he is on and off the ball and why he has the likes of Chelsea and PSG after him.

His overall performances have earned the Frenchman a performance rating of 6.83/10 from WhoScored, making him the fourth-highest rated outfield player currently at the Bundesliga club.

Previously tipped by talent scout Jacek Kulig to become a “monstrous” midfielder, it’s safe to say that his efforts this season have proved that to be the case.

Even though Chelsea currently have a significant number of midfielders in their squad, we feel the Blues should look to secure a deal for Kone once the summer transfer window opens.
