Arsenal are reportedly plotting a summer transfer swoop to sign Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.

The north London club currently have the second-youngest squad in the Premier League with an average age of 25.1 according to Transfermarkt.

Now that the next summer transfer window is on the way, the Gunners have reportedly set their sights on a young player who is currently making a name for himself in one of Europe’s top leagues.

According to a recent report from Tutto Atalanta (via Sport Witness), Arsenal are willing to spend €50m (£43m) to sign Hojlund this summer.

The report also adds that fellow Premier League side Newcastle United are also interested in the striker and willing to pay the same amount of money to land his signature.

After scoring 22 goals in 61 appearances for FC Copenhagen across their senior and youth sides, the 20-year-old joined Austrian club Sturm Graz back in the 2022 January transfer window.

Having then scored 12 goals in 21 appearances, the striker found himself on the move again in the following summer, joining his current club for a fee of €17m (£14m).

Since then, the youngster has found the net eight times in 25 appearances for the Italian club across all competitions.

To further highlight his attacking prowess, across his 23 Serie A appearances, the striker has the joint-highest number of shots on target at Atalanta.

Having also been described as being “scary quick” by journalist Sacha Pisani, this also shows the attributes Hojlund has in his locker as well as being a nuisance for opposition goalkeepers.

Taking all of this into account, it’s clear that the Atalanta star has the talent to be an exciting signing for Arsenal and someone that can grow and develop into a top player.

Moving forward, if Mikel Arteta wants to add some extra strength and depth to his squad in the centre-forward position, securing a deal for Hojlund could end up being a smart move for the club to make.
