Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eyeing a summer transfer move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
The Lilywhites have a track record of signing players from a variety of their fellow Premier League sides such as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton, Richarlison from Everton and Yves Bissouma from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Looking ahead to the next summer transfer window, it has been revealed that Antonio Conte’s side have set their sights on landing another Premier League star.
According to a recent report from the Evening Standard, Spurs are interested in signing Guehi in the summer with Davinson Sanchez’s future in doubt and Clement Lenglet’s loan spell set to finish at the end of the campaign.
The report also adds that the north London club have been tracking the 22-year-old since he left Chelsea, who would apparently get a sizeable sell-on clause and a matching option that they can leverage should they want to enter the race for the centre-back.
Guehi joined Palace back in 2021 in a deal worth £18m and has since gone on to make 65 appearances for the Eagles across all competitions, chipping in with four goals.
This season has seen the Englishman start all but one of Palace’s Premier League games, donning the captain’s armband on five occasions, highlighting his importance to Patrick Vieira and the team.
Would you take Marc Guehi at Tottenham?
Across those appearances, the defender has racked up the highest average of blocks per game (0.9) at the south London club as well as the joint-second highest average of clearances (3.6) and interceptions (1.1).
This showcases the clear defensive talent Guehi has and what he’d be able to offer Conte’s side, who only have five clubs in the league that have conceded more goals than them this season (31).
Having had his efforts for Palace last season described as “outstanding” by journalist Josh Bunting, the Palace star has previously shared his admiration for Spurs striker Harry Kane and his attacking talent while on international duty together.
Therefore, the prospect of linking up with Kane could potentially make a move to the north London club rather tempting for the defender.
