Tottenham Hotspur have seen numerous players make moves to the north London club in recent years from fellow English sides.
One player, in particular, that has recently joined Antonio Conte’s side from one of Spurs’ fellow Premier League outfits is Richarlison.
Signed from Everton last summer in a deal worth £60m, the Brazilian has not had the best debut campaign with the Lilywhites as he has only started six of the 14 league games he has appeared in and has yet to score a goal in the competition prior to their match against Chelsea on Sunday.
Should the north London club look to continue their track record of signing players from Premier League rivals once the next summer transfer window opens, one player they have been recently linked with that we feel would give them an upgrade on Richarlison is Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin.
With 113 appearances for the Tyneside club to his name, the Frenchman has scored 13 goals and delivered 19 assists.
In terms of being a potential upgrade on the current £90k-per-week Spurs attacker, their individual efforts domestically this season have shown why that could be the case.

For example, the Newcastle star has a higher rate of shot-creating actions (4.59 vs 3.32) and goal-creating actions (0.74 vs 0.47) than Richarlison, as well as making more progressive passes (42 vs 20) and carries (56 vs 16).
Regarding their efforts off the ball, Saint-Maximin has made more recoveries than the former Everton figure (44 vs 33), showing how effective he is out of possession and on the ball going forward.
Described as being “unplayable” at times this season by journalist Dominic Scurr, the winger has earned himself an overall performance rating of 6.79/10 from WhoScored, which is higher than Richarlison’s rating of 6.41/10 from a similar number of appearances and starts.
Taking all of this into account, should Conte want to bring in a new attacker that could add some extra quality to his squad, the Newcastle dynamo could be just what he needs to do that – though whether he would effectively accept his heavy outlay on the Brazilian has not worked out by doing so remains to be seen.
