Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed having one of the deadliest duos the Premier League has seen with the pairing of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

A year ago, the duo broke the Premier League record for the number of goal combinations (37) they have delivered for the north London club.

However, things have not been quite as fluid for the Spurs duo this season as it has been previously, as they have just racked up four joint goal contributions in the league from 22 appearances together.

Tottenham Hotspur fans, who were these players sold to? Starting with an easy one: Gareth Bale

Looking ahead to the next summer transfer window, should Antonio Conte look to forge a new formidable attacking partnership involving Kane, one figure the Lilywhites have been linked with recently that we feel could do this is James Maddison.

With 54 goals and 37 assists to his name in 190 appearances for Leicester City, this shows how effective the midfielder can be at scoring and setting up goals.

This is something that Kane has also shown during his time with Spurs by scoring 267 goals and delivering 62 assists in 418 appearances prior to their league match against Chelsea this weekend.

In addition to that, Maddison has made more key passes (38) and shot-creating actions (72) than any other Leicester player in the league this season, which suggests that he could be someone to regularly set Kane up with goalscoring opportunities in Son’s place.

On the flip-side, the £110k-per-week midfielder also has the highest rate of goals per shot (0.18) out of Leicester players that have scored more than one league goal this season, meaning that he could massively benefit from having someone like the Spurs striker setting himself up in front of goal.

Described as “magical” by Statman Dave on Twitter, the stats certainly suggest Maddison could offer Conte’s side an extra attacking dynamic from midfield and someone that could connect very easily with Kane, making it another deadly pairing that opposition players would have to be wary of when facing the Lilywhites.
