Manchester United have seen numerous players make moves to Old Trafford since Erik ten Hag took charge of the club.
One player that joined the Dutchman’s squad during the recent January transfer window that has quickly become a prominent figure in the team is Wout Weghorst.
Signed on loan until the end of the season from Burnley, the striker has started every game following United’s 2-1 league win over Manchester City.
However, despite now having 10 appearances for the Old Trafford outfit to his name, the centre-forward has only been able to find the back of the net on one occasion.
Should Ten Hag decide not to make Weghorst’s loan deal at United a permanent one in the summer, one other attacking figure that the club have been linked with in the past week who we feel should be a suitable replacement for him is Marcus Thuram.
With 124 appearances for Borussia Monchengladbach to his name, the striker, who is in the final year of his contract, has scored 42 goals and provided 26 assists for the German club.
Have you been disappointed with Weghorst?
Yes
No
This season has seen the Frenchman show just how much of an attacking threat he is and why he could be a more clinical figure for United than Weghorst.
For example, with 11 goals to his name in 20 Bundesliga appearances, the 25-year-old has racked up more shots at goal (65) and shots on target (33) in the league.
Dubbed a “physical phenomenon” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, Thuram certainly has what it takes to be a deadly goal threat for United, which is something that Weghorst has not been as of yet in terms of scoring goals.
Taking all of this into account, we feel that if United have an opportunity to land a deal for the France international on a free transfer this summer, this should be a no-brainer for the club to do.
