Journalist Laurie Whitwell has shared his praise for Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford and his performance in the club’s recent 2-2 draw against Barcelona in the Europa League.

After going 1-0 down in the 50th minute of the game, United equalised through Rashford before a Jules Kounde own goal put the away side ahead at the Nou Camp.

With 76 minutes on the clock, Raphinha put the score at 2-2 to draw things level heading into next week’s second leg fixture at Old Trafford.

In this quiz, we will take a look at who topped the club's scoring charts and when. First, who was United's top scorer this season?

Despite letting their lead slip, United ended the game with one of their players being on the end of some heavy praise for his efforts in the match.

In a Twitter post after the Red Devils’ second goal, Whitwell had this to say about Rashford and his display.

He said: “Wow Rashford. He’s treating the Nou Camp like his playground. Not sure Rafinha will be on defensive duties again any time soon. Still, brilliant skill by Rashford to go by so easily + force the goal with his cross. #MUFC.”

With the full 90 minutes under his belt, the Englishman had four attempts at goal in total with three being on target, as well as making three key passes and successfully completing the one dribble he attempted.

This highlights just how much of a danger he was on the day and the trouble he caused for Barcelona’s defence.

His performance ultimately earned the 25-year-old an overall match rating of 7.4/10 from SofaScore, making him the joint-highest rated outfield player for United.

The Independent also picked up on the United star’s performance by saying that he looks “unstoppable” at the moment, giving him a match rating of 8/10.

Taking all of this into account, it’s clear that the attacker had a solid game against the Spanish giants and was more than deserving of the praise Whitwell shared.

Looking ahead to the second leg of the tie, it’s safe to say that Erik ten Hag and everyone connected to United will be hoping that Rashford can do the same again on Thursday and push his team towards the next stage of the competition.
