Manchester United are reportedly one of the Premier League clubs eyeing up a potential transfer move for Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga.
The Red Devils have seen some significant changes happen to their midfield since the end of last season.
Firstly, a number of players left the club over the summer such as Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard and have since been replaced by the likes of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Marcel Sabitzer.
Looking ahead to the next summer transfer period, it has been revealed that the Old Trafford outfit have set their sights on another midfield talent, but face some competition from their top-flight rivals.
According to a recent report from Spanish media outlet AS, United, as well as Arsenal and Newcastle United, have been monitoring Veiga, who Celta feel they could get a fee of around €30m (£26m) for in the next summer transfer window.
All of those goal contributions have come across his 21 La Liga appearances this season prior to their home match against Real Valladolid.
His efforts in Spain’s top league this term have proved why Veiga is such an exciting player and why he has caught the attention of three of England’s big clubs.
Have you been pleased with Man United's recent transfer business?
For example, in terms of his work on the ball in an attacking sense, the youngster has the third-highest total of passes into the penalty area (15) at Celta as well as the second-highest total of successful take-ons (18) and joint-highest for goal-creating actions (5) at the club.
Then from a defensive point of view, only two other Celta players have made more tackles in the midfield third of the pitch than the young Spaniard (18).
Described as an “incredible” player by presenter Alexandra Jonson, Veiga could be an ideal long-term investment for United to take a chance on given the clear talent he has shown at a fairly young age.
