Journalist Richard Amofa has shared his praise for Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic and his display against Real Madrid in yesterday’s 5-2 defeat in the Champions League.
The Reds found themselves 2-0 up at Anfield on Tuesday night with just 14 minutes on the clock, only for two goals from Vinicius Junior draw the game level at halftime.
The second half then ended up being a nightmare for the home side as the visitors managed to score three goals in a 20-minute period to secure the first-leg victory.
Despite the disheartening defeat, one Liverpool figure found himself on the end of some praise for what he did in the game.
In a post on his Twitter account, Amofa had this to say about Madrid midfielder Luka Modric and his battle against Bajcetic.
He said: “Luka Modric (37) running away from Stefan Bajcetic (18) might be a defining image of our time. Sometimes you have to demonstrate levels. Class is permanent.”
In a following post, the journalist added this about the Liverpool midfielder.
He said: “Nothing on Bajcetic. More to praise Modric’s enduring class. Bajcetic is quality. Thrown to the wolves today with zero protection around him and continued to show when other senior colleagues didn’t…”
With 85 minutes under his belt against Carlo Ancelotti’s side, the 18-year-old completed 50 of the 65 passes he attempted.

In terms of his work off the ball, the teenager won five of the seven duels he was involved in and made four tackles.
This ultimately earned the youngster an overall match rating of 6.8/10 from Sofascore, ranking him joint-second among Liverpool starters on the day.
The Liverpool Echo also picked up on Bajcetic’s efforts by highlighting his “important” role in the build-up of Liverpool’s first goal as well as his “intelligent” use of the ball.
Taking all of this into account, it’s clear that the midfielder was one of Liverpool’s bright sparks in what turned out to be a disappointing night at Anfield and very much earned the praise Amofa had for him.
