Former Premier League player and BBC pundit Alan Hutton has shared his thoughts on the possibility of Liverpool making a move to bring Paris Saint-Germain winger Neymar to Anfield.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Liverpool, alongside Newcastle United and the two Manchester clubs, have been offered the chance to sign the Brazilian this summer for a potential fee of between £70m-£80m.

This has now led to one pundit sharing his views on the player and the likelihood of him joining Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton had this to say about Liverpool potentially signing Neymar.

He said: “There is a lot of clubs that could afford it. I do not think Jurgen Klopp could be bothered with all the antics that come along with it. Does he fit into their style of play? Not really. He does not press, he does not close down players.

“He is a wonderful player with great ability and I think that is why people get frustrated watching all the off-field stuff. I know it comes easy to him, he is very talented.

“I would love to see it but I do not think he fits in to a lot of the teams out there. Would Chelsea go and bid for him? I would not be surprised.”

At the age of 31, Neymar has 293 goals, 188 assists and numerous trophies to his name across 493 club appearances.

His latest season with PSG has seen the attacker score 13 goals and deliver 11 assists in 20 Ligue 1 appearances, which is more goal contributions than any other player at the club has been able to supply.

The winger’s overall performances have earned him a season rating of 7.71/10 from WhoScored, leaving only Lionel Messi (8.4/10) with a higher rating at PSG.

However, despite his impressive endeavours in France this season, the former Barcelona star has found himself on the receiving end of some criticism in the past as talkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy once said that Neymar is not a team player.

With Klopp previously sharing the significance of teamwork rather than individual efforts, this backs up why Hutton doesn’t think the Reds boss would be interested in adding the PSG attacker to his ranks.
