Liverpool are reportedly monitoring N’Golo Kante and his contract situation at Chelsea ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

As things stand, the Frenchman is set to see his current contract at Stamford Bridge expire in the summer.

It was reported earlier this month that the midfielder was close to agreeing a new deal to keep him at the west London club, although nothing official has been announced of yet.

Now though, it has been revealed that the player has another top-flight club snooping around him and the current situation surrounding a potential new contract at Chelsea.

According to a recent report from Football Insider, Liverpool are keeping an eye on Kante and could make a summer transfer move for him should his contract talks with Chelsea collapse.

Having become a Premier League champion with Leicester City, the 31-year-old joined his current side back in 2016 for a reported fee of £30m.

Since then, the France international has made 262 appearances for the Blues in all competitions, scoring 13 goals, delivering 15 assists and winning numerous titles including the Champions League.

Interestingly, he laughed off a fan asking him about joining Liverpool back in 2019.

Would you take N'Golo Kante at Liverpool?

Described as a “phenomenal” player who could play in any position by former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, Kante has only made two Premier League appearances this season, spending the majority of the campaign out injured.

However, his performances in those two games against Everton and Tottenham Hotspur at the start of the season have earned him a rating of 7.2/10 from WhoScored, making him the highest-rated player at Chelsea.

Jurgen Klopp has also shared his praise for the midfielder in the past by labelling him as a “really good player” back in 2019.

Taking all of this into account, if an opportunity to sign Kante arises in the summer, we feel that Liverpool should definitely make an approach to the player to see if he’d be willing to join the Anfield outfit.
