Chelsea journalist Simon Phillips has relayed comments from Fabrizio Romano concerning Graham Potter and the current state of affairs at the west London club.

The Blues manager has found himself under pressure recently, which has been increased following Sunday’s 2-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

This has now led to some behind-the-scenes details emerging about Potter’s position and what could be happening around him.

In a Twitter post, Phillips relayed these comments from Romano, who uploaded a video discussing the current situation at Chelsea.

He said: “Internally Chelsea are still backing Graham Potter after Spurs defeat. But many top agents are approaching Chelsea to offer them their clients (managers). This is normal. But the situation is getting tense. Let’s see what happens after new round of talks.”

The defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was Potter’s 10th in charge of the club with 26 games under his belt across all competitions.

Before this game, it was reported that there had been an emergency strategy meeting where Potter and his coaching staff spoke about how the season has been panning out in recent weeks.

With the Stamford Bridge outfit now in 10th position in the Premier League table, 26 points behind league leaders Arsenal, Todd Boehly is reportedly willing to stick with the current Chelsea manager.

Now that Romano has revealed that there are likely to be new rounds of talks behind the scenes and that some agents are swirling around the club looking to offer potential new managers to replace Potter, it seems that the pressure on the 47-year-old will not be going away.

Moving forward, with Chelsea now having a home league clash against Leeds United ahead of them followed by their midweek second-leg round of 16 showdown against Borussia Dortmund, two victories there could be massive for Potter and getting his side on track for the remainder of the season.
