Arsenal are reportedly one of the clubs interested in signing Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga in the next summer transfer window.

At the age of 20, the Spaniard has made 41 senior appearances for his current club after working his way through their youth ranks.

Despite still being fairly young, the midfielder has found himself on the radar of some one Europe’s biggest clubs ahead of the next summer transfer window.

According to a recent report from Faro de Vigo (via Sport Witness), Arsenal are closely following Veiga, as are Newcastle United and other Premier League clubs in addition to La Liga duo Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

The report also adds that Veiga’s current contract includes a €40m (£35m) release clause, which is very much affordable for the Premier League clubs looking at him.

One of the agents, Fran Villa stated: ‘He is standing out above expectations and he has room for much more, he is going to get better. The best Gabri Veiga is yet to be seen.’

This season has seen the Spaniard start 15 of the 22 La Liga games he’s appeared in for Celta, scoring eight goals and supplying three assists along the way.

To highlight how much of an effective attacking figure he has been for his side in the league this season, he has racked up the joint-highest number of shots on target (20) at the club as well as having the joint-highest number of goal-creating actions (6) and the second-highest total of successful take-ons (21).

His overall efforts have earned Veiga a season rating of 6.85/10 from WhoScored, making him the third-highest rated player at Celta, further highlighting how capable the youngster is of playing top-flight football.

Lauded by presenter Alexandra Jonson for his “incredible” performances for the Spanish club, it’s easy to see why the Celta star has a significant number of big clubs watching him.

Bearing in mind how Mikel Arteta has previously shared his willingness to back and support young players, this could make a move to the Emirates very beneficial for Veiga and his career development.

With all of that in mind, once the summer transfer window opens, we feel that the Gunners should do all they can to be the ones that land the young midfielder’s signature.
