Since Mikel Arteta took charge of Arsenal back in December 2019, the north London club have backed him financially in the transfer market.

For example, the club have splashed significant amounts of cash to bring in players such as Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, Ben White and Martin Odegaard among others.

With a large number of Arsenal’s recent arrivals coming from fellow Premier League clubs – including January arrivals Leandro Trossard and Jorginho – the Gunners now have something of a track record in this regard.

Another top-flight figure the Emirates outfit have been linked with recently that we feel would be a dream signing for Arteta is Marcus Rashford.

Indeed, a recent report from Football Insider claimed that the north London club are monitoring the winger’s situation at United, with there being some apparent doubt over his contract situation.

Having emerged from United’s youth ranks, the attacker has gone on to make 338 appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions prior to their Premier League match against Leicester City, scoring 115 goals and delivering 65 assists along the way.

The Englishman has been in hot form for Erik ten Hag’s side this season, particularly in the past few weeks, as he has found the net 22 times and supplied eight assists in 35 appearances, scoring a goal in all but one of United’s nine previous league games.

Would Marcus Rashford be a good signing for Arsenal?

Delving further into what the England international has done for the Old Trafford outfit in the league this season, Rashford has the highest average of dribbles per game (1.2) at the club as well as the second-highest average of shots per game (2.7).

Described as “magnificent” by journalist Carl Anka, the £200k-per-week attacker is apparently greatly admired by Arteta, further highlighting why signing the United star would be a dream move for the Arsenal boss.

There have been recent concerns over the form of Gabriel Martinelli – who was left out of the starting lineup before scoring in the Gunners’ weekend trip to Aston Villa – and perhaps another star addition to the Arsenal frontline could be what is needed to get the best out of the Brazilian.

Moving forward, while it would be safe to assume that United would want to keep hold of their star attacker and definitely not see him join another Premier League club, we feel that unless he puts pen to paper on a new contract, Arsenal should definitely explore the possibility of signing Rashford.
