Liverpool have a number of players in their squad that have contracts expiring at the end of the season.

One of those players is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who joined the Merseyside club back in the 2017 summer transfer window in a deal worth a reported fee of £35m.

Since then, the 29-year-old has made 143 senior appearances for the Reds across all competitions. During his time at Anfield, the Englishman has scored 18 goals, delivered 15 assists and won several trophies such as the Premier League and the Champions League.

How well do you know these Liverpool squad numbers? Starting off with an easy one: Mo Salah

However, it’s undeniable that numerous injuries have impacted his playing time at the club and even when he has been fit enough to play, the former Arsenal figure hasn’t always found himself at the top of Jurgen Klopp’s pecking order.

For example, the winger, who has been described as being “terrible” previously by journalist Nolan Bianchi on Twitter, only started five of the 10 appearances he’s made across all competitions this season.

Should the club not look to renew the Englishman’s contract, one player the Reds have been linked with that they could look to bring in and force Oxlade-Chamberlain out the door is Federico Chiesa.

With a combined total of 222 senior club appearances for Juventus and his previous side Fiorentina prior to Juventus’ Serie A match against Monza, the winger has found the net 53 times and delivered 41 assists.

Hailed for his “stunning” attacking talent by journalist Carlo Garganese, the 25-year-old has played in a number of different attacking and midfield positions throughout his career.

This sort of versatility and attacking prowess would surely make him an exciting signing for Klopp and a useful potential replacement for Oxlade-Chamberlain given how he has shown his ability to play in numerous positions when not injured.

Moving forward, if Liverpool manage to get rid of the Englishman in the summer, they should definitely look to bring in Chiesa in the same period.
