Analyst Adam Thornton has claimed that Rangers star Glen Kamara may want a move away from Ibrox and proposed a swap for Tom Davies.

The Everton midfielder has been linked with a move to Ibrox and Michael Beale as well as Ross Wilson are said to be keen on him per the Daily Record.

As for Kamara, he was linked with a move away from Scotland last month, with The Times revealing interest from Ligue 1 in the Finland international.

Speaking to The Rangers Review, Thornton said that could be an ‘obvious swap’ with Kamara going out and Davies coming in. He also claimed that the Finnish star wants a ‘fresh opportunity’ away from the Gers.

He stated: “That would be one that I think would be an obvious swap, if we decide that. We know Michael Beale is a big fan of Kamara, but sometimes that’s not enough. The player, to me, looks like he wants a fresh opportunity, a fresh move. He doesn’t look to have had a ridiculous bump up in form or confidence since Michael Beale came in, so, for me, that would be a good one.”

TIF Thoughts on Thornton’s comments…

It only makes sense that Rangers should look for a potential Kamara replacement should he leave Ibrox in the next couple of windows.

The 27-year-old has spent a while with the Scottish Premiership side and has made more appearances for the Gers than any other club he’s played for, racking up 179 appearances across all competitions.

Davies could fill in the central-midfield role that Kamara has occupied for a number of years. Having spent the entirety of his career with the Toffees, a fresh move away could really help kickstart his career.

It’s been a rough couple of seasons for the Everton man, he’s played only nine times in the Premier League this season and played only six times in the previous league campaign.

Should Rangers be able to agree on a deal, it could be a move that benefits all parties.
