Wolves are reportedly set to have in-house talks with Ruben Neves over his future at Molineux according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Midlands club signed Neves back in the 2017 summer transfer window from FC Porto in a deal worth £15.8m, which was a Championship record at the time.
Since then, the Portuguese international has made 235 appearances for Wolves across all competitions, scoring 28 goals and providing 12 assists along the way.
Having previously been linked with a move away from Molineux, the 25-year-old is set to enter the final year of his contract at Wolves at the end of the current season.
With that in mind, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding Neves’ current situation at Wolves and what the future may hold for him.
In his latest column for Caught Offside, Romano revealed that Wolves will discuss Neves’ future soon as many clubs have their eyes on signing the midfielder.
This season has seen only one other outfield figure at Molineux play more minutes than the Portuguese midfielder this season, which highlights just how important he is to the club.
The Molineux maestro has also shown how much of a pivotal defensive figure he is for Julen Lopetegui’s side this season as he has the highest average of tackles per game in the league at Wolves (2.6).

He also has the highest average of interceptions per game (1.4) out of any player currently at Wolves as well as a higher average of clearances per game (2.4) than any other midfielder or attacker at the club.
His overall performances have earned Neves a season rating of 6.98/10 from WhoScored, making him the highest-rated player at Wolves.
This makes it easy to see why other clubs are apparently circling the midfield star and presumably why Wolves are keen to sort his future out.
In our view, we feel that Neves is too important for the Old Gold to sell and that they should look to tie the midfielder down to a potential new contract to shoo away any outside interest in him.
