Wolves have had a rather busy January transfer window so far in terms of the number of deals they’ve been involved in.

For example, in terms of the players they’ve managed to bring in, the Old Gold have seen the likes of Mario Lemina, Matheus Cunha and Pablo Sarabia make moves to Molineux.

Then, going in the other direction, the Midlands club have recently seen summer signing Goncalo Guedes make a return to his boyhood club, Benfica, on loan until the end of the season.

With some time left before the window shuts, one player Julen Lopetegui’s side have been mentioned with that we feel could be an ideal replacement for the departed winger is Gerard Deulofeu.

Do you remember who Wolves signed Ivan Cavaleiro from?

Having made 127 appearances in the Premier League during his time with Watford and Everton, scoring 20 goals and delivering 24 assists in the process, this would presumably make it easier for him to settle in at Molineux than it clearly was for Guedes to do.

In 67 appearances for his current side, Udinese, the 28-year-old has found the net 18 times and supplied 14 assists, which highlights the attacking prowess he has in being able to score and set goals up for his teammates.

Should Wolves sign Gerard Deulofeu this month?

Back in 2019, the Spaniard was hailed for the “magic” he produced on the pitch for Watford by former teammate Will Hughes, which is what he’d potentially be able to add to Lopetegui’s side.

This season has seen the winger rack up more goal-creating actions (9) than any other player at Udinese in Serie A this season, showing that he’s the one that makes things happen in front of goal.

Taking into account how Wolves have the joint-lowest rate of goal-creating actions per 90 minutes (1.11) in the league this season, this and the fact that they’ve managed to move Guedes out suggests that a move for Deulofeu could be a smart move for the Midlands club to make.
