Wolves are reportedly set to hold talks with Atletico Madrid over a potential transfer deal for Felipe according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Midlands club have been linked with a move for the 33-year-old in recent weeks, with Julen Lopetegui already making changes to his squad throughout the current January transfer window.

Having brought in the likes of Matheus Cunha, Mario Lemina and Pablo Sarabia, the Wolves boss has clearly felt the need to strengthen the midfield and attacking areas of his squad.

With some time left before the window shuts, the Old Gold are now looking to add some defensive strength to their ranks.

In a recent Twitter post, Romano had this to say on the matter.

He said: “Atletico Madrid and Wolves will be in contact again to close Felipe deal in the next 24/48 hours. It’s crucial moment for the negotiation. #WWFC.”

Do you remember who Wolves signed Ivan Cavaleiro from?

Back in the 2019 summer transfer window, the centre-back joined Atletico from FC Porto and has since gone on to make 113 appearances for the Spanish club across all competitions.

Throughout his club career, the Brazilian has made 358 senior appearances, which highlights the extensive amount of experience that he’d be able to offer the Old Gold.

Would Felipe be a good signing for Wolves?

Despite only having four appearances to his name this season, Felipe has still shown how much of a capable defender he is.

For example, back in September in Atletico’s Champions League group game against Bayer Leverkusen, the Brazilian ended the game with five clearances, four tackles and three shots blocked.

In addition to that, the veteran also won eight of the nine duels he was involved in, ultimately earning him an overall match rating of 7.7/10 from SofaScore, making him the highest-rated Atletico player on the day.

With that in mind, if Wolves can seal Felipe’s signature this month, this would be a great way for Lopetegui to add some extra strength, depth and experience to his squad at the back.
