Wolves are interested in signing Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres, according to reporter Alex Crook.

Journalist Dean Jones told GIVEMESPORT that Wolves had ‘moved into the picture’ to sign Gyokeres earlier this month, however he detailed that there would have to be some ‘really good negotiating’ if a deal is going to become possible.

Given that the likes of Brentford, Crystal Palace and Everton have all also been named as potential suitors by 90min, there is stiff competition for the 24-year-old’s signature, with the report also claiming that he is likely to be available for around £16m.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT about the potential transfer, Crook gave an update on the situation, saying:

“There is interest in Viktor Gyokeres (from Wolves), but again, I think Coventry want a big fee.

“So whether Wolves are willing to pay that is open to interpretation.”
TIF thoughts on Gyokeres to Wolves…
Raul Jimenez has started to show some improved signs recently, netting Wolves’ only goal of the game in the defeat at Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup, however he is still yet to score in the Premier League this season, which will be a concern for Julen Lopetegui.
The same applies to Diego Costa, who has flattered to deceive since arriving on a free transfer in September, also yet to score a league goal, and so it is clear that the Old Gold need a new striker, even though they have started to improve somewhat in the league recently.
Hailed as ‘unbelievable’ by Coventry manager Mark Robins, Gyokeres has been in fine form this season, in what has been a real breakthrough year for him, netting 13 goals in 26 matches in all competitions, averaging one every other game.
While this indicates that he may be able to make an instant impact for Wolves, the Swede is still only proven in the second tier, and so paying the reported fee of £16m would be a real gamble, when there could be proven Premier League strikers available for much less.
