The Express & Star journalist Nathan Judah was left fuming after Wolves were denied a late penalty in their recent Carabao Cup clash.
Matheus Nunes was adjudged not to have been fouled in the 88th minute of Wolves’ 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup before they were dumped out on penalties.
The incident, which happened right in front of referee Graham Scott, left Judah baffled, and with no VAR on hand to recommend a review of the situation, Wolves were left to feel aggrieved as they were denied a chance to steal a victory.
Speaking on the Express & Star YouTube channel, Judah was left bemused by the decision not to award a penalty, which would surely have handed Julen Lopetegui’s side a place in the semi-finals.
Judah said: “His boot’s come off, he’s obviously been fouled, I have seen the replay as well – it’s a penalty, for me, it is a penalty.”
“I thought he took a while to go down, but when you see the replay, 100%, for me, if VAR was here tonight – of course, it’s not – that’s going to get overturned and Wolves get a 2-1 win and their domination in the second half is rewarded. They’re not getting the rub of the green.”

Wolves have found themselves on the wrong side of debatable refereeing decisions lately, with a number of controversial moments in their 2-2 FA Cup draw against Liverpool also going against them.
Last night’s decision will leave the Molineux side feeling further aggrieved as Emmanuel Dennis clearly makes contact with Nunes, with his right boot falling off due to the contact.
It’s an incredibly strange decision from Scott, who had the best view in the house of the incident, which sees the Forest striker trip the Portuguese midfielder, who put his body between Dennis and the ball as it broke towards the edge of the box.
As a result, the Old Gold had to leave their cup hopes to chance which ultimately landed on the wrong number as Ruben Neves and Joe Hodge missed in the shootout, with Forest going on to play Manchester United in the semi-final.
