Tottenham Hotspur could look to sign Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Robert Sanchez as a replacement for Hugo Lloris, according to a new report.

Lloris had already been the subject of criticism this season due to his subpar performances, and he did himself no favours by scoring an own-goal after a poor piece of goalkeeping in the North London derby on Sunday afternoon.

The Frenchman has made more errors leading to goals than any other player in the Premier League this season, and now there has been talk about a long-term successor coming in, with Sanchez emerging as one of the potential options.

According to a report from The Daily Mail, Tottenham are searching for a goalkeeper who is comfortable in possession, a trait that Lloris does not possess.

While the interest in Jordan Pickford is well-known, the report also details Sanchez as a potential signing, after his impressive form with Brighton so far this season.

TIF thoughts on Sanchez to Tottenham…

The Spaniard is exceptionally good at preventing opposition crosses, ranking in the 95th percentile in this area compared to other goalkeepers in the past year, but one of the most crucial aspects of his game is indeed that he is comfortable in possession.

Former manager Graham Potter has previously stated that the shot-stopper is ‘good at the ball with his feet’, while the Chelsea boss has also hailed him as a ‘monster’ who ‘has everything to be a top goalkeeper.’

While Lloris has been a fantastic servant to the club, it is now apparent that Antonio Conte needs to replace him, and given that Sanchez is still only 25, he would be able to make the goalkeeper spot his for a decade to come.
