Tottenham: Sky Sports man hails Pedro Porro as the perfect player for Conte

After taking his game up another level, Kevin Hatchard believes Pedro Porro is perfect for Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs and Daniel Levy have so far ignored Antonio Conte’s constant pleas to be backed in the transfer market and it looks to be backfiring thus far, as they were put to the sword and easily swept aside in the north London derby last weekend.

However, they are constantly being linked with a move for Spaniard Porro, who they will know very well having come up against him twice in the Champions League earlier in the season. However, his club insist on his €45m (£40m) release clause being paid.

Sporting seemingly don’t want to lose Porro and will only see him leave if his release clause is met by Spurs – with the north Londoners looking to negotiate on that with fresh contact being made recently, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Hatchard has been speaking live on Sky Sports about how Porro would indeed be a great signing for Conte to utilise in his wing-back system.

He said: “Under Ruben Amorim, he’s gone up a level. So he’s somebody that I think, if you look at how important wing-backs are to Antonio Conte, he’s the kind of guy I think would be perfect for them.”

TIF Thoughts on interest in Porro…

After spending heavily over the summer by splashing out on the likes of Richarlison and Yves Bissouma, it’s no surprise that Levy is seemingly unwilling to sanction another big-money deal this month.

With Porro’s release clause standing at around £40m, which doesn’t seem like too much money for a Premier League giant, if he’s not going to be a guaranteed starter – which is possible given the options Spurs already have at right wing-back – it’s a lot of money to have sitting on the bench.

Spurs’ damning loss at home to Arsenal on Sunday should have been a warning sign to Levy that Conte needs backing and quickly if they are to avoid losing their grip on the top four, as they’re already five points off the Champions League spots.
