Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly plotting a transfer move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie.

The 21-year-old joined his current club back in the 2021 summer transfer window from Argentina side CA Talleres and has since gone on to make 51 appearances for Leverkusen across all competitions.

Having also been one of the five outfield players to play every minute of World Cup action for Ecuador in the recent tournament in Qatar, the defender has found himself linked with a move to the Premier League.

According to a recent report from The Sun, Spurs are weighing up a £20m move for Hincapie, with Conte keen to add a new left-sided centre-back to his squad.

The report also adds that the north London club are also set to have talks with Sporting CP over a potential transfer deal for right-back Pedro Porro.

This season has seen the youngster make 18 appearances for Leverkusen across the Bundesliga and the Champions League, being deployed as a centre-back and in the left-back position on some occasions.

In regards to his defensive talent, Hincapie currently has the highest average of tackles (3.8) and interceptions per game (1.2) for the German club in the Champions League this season.

Then in terms of his league efforts, the defender also has the highest average of blocks per game (0.9) at Leverkusen, further showcasing how much of a unit he is at the back and what he’d be able to offer the Lilywhites.

This backs up why the Ecuadorian has previously been described as a “colossal” player by Victor Hernandez Molina.

Taking all of this into account, it’s easy to see why Spurs are considering making a move for the centre-back given his versatility and clear defensive talent.

Moving forward, if Spurs can end the month with Hincapie and Porro in their squad, this would surely make it a positive transfer window for the club and help strengthen the team at the back.
