It was recently reported that Tottenham Hotspur have decided to not extend Lucas Moura’s contract at the north London club.

This means that if the Brazilian were to stay at Spurs beyond the current January transfer window, he’ll be leaving the club as a free agent in the summer when his deal expires.

Should the Lilywhites look to bring in a potential replacement for Moura in the summer, one figure that the club has been linked with recently that we feel would be a good fit is Leandro Trossard.

During his time at Brighton & Hove Albion, the Belgian has scored 25 goals and delivered 14 assists in 121 appearances across all competitions.

This isn’t too dissimilar to Moura’s goalscoring record at Spurs as he’s found the net 38 times and delivered 27 assists in 213 appearances.

In addition to that, both players have shown during their time in England how versatile they are in terms of being able to play in numerous midfield and attacking positions, which further highlights how Trossard could be a suitable replacement for Moura.

Tottenham Hotspur fans, who were these players sold to? Starting with an easy one: Gareth Bale

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi recently shared his frustration regarding Trossard’s attitude when he left a training session without telling the Italian after being told he wouldn’t be playing in their previous match.

While this may be a concern for someone like Antonio Conte in terms of signing the player, it could make getting him out of Brighton easier if his relationship with the manager doesn’t improve.

Would Trossard be a good replacement for Moura at Spurs?

Despite his recent off-field antics, his efforts on the pitch have previously been hailed as “sensational” by journalist Josh Bunting on Twitter.

With that in mind and the significant experience that he has of playing in the Premier League, this would surely make him a viable option to replace Moura at Spurs.

Moving forward, with Trossard set to enter the final year of his contract at the end of the season, Spurs and Daniel Levy should definitely consider making an approach to the south coast club in the summer over securing a potential transfer deal for him.
