Tottenham Hotspur have not had a particularly strong Premier League campaign from a defensive point of view this season.

Specifically, prior to their clash against Arsenal, the Lilywhites have conceded 25 goals in 18 league games, only managing to keep a clean sheet on five occasions.

One player in Antonio Conte’s squad that hasn’t been a particular prominent figure in the team this season is Davinson Sanchez.

With 11 league appearances to his name, the Colombian has only started six of them, which suggests that he’s not always at the top of Conte’s pecking order.

Having had his previous performances for Spurs been described as “shocking” by Jamie O’Hara, Sanchez is set to enter the final year of his contract in the summer.

How well do you know where these Spurs signings came from? Take our quiz to find out! Firstly, where did Dimitar Berbatov arrive from?

With some time left before the January transfer window closes, this could be an ideal time for Spurs and Daniel Levy to cash in on the centre-back and potentially bring in a replacement that would have a better chance of being a regular figure in Conte’s side.

One figure that the north London club have been linked with that selling Sanchez could fund a move for is Monaco defender Axel Disasi.

Should Spurs sell Davinson Sanchez?

The 24-year-old has proved his defensive credentials in Ligue 1 this season as he has the highest average of interceptions (1.9) and clearances per game (3) out of players currently in the Monaco squad.

He also has the second-highest average of blocks per game (0.8) at the French club, further highlighting how much of a defensive unit he is and how difficult he can be to play against.

Described by talent scout Jacek Kulig as a “complete” and “dominant” player, Disasi could certainly be an impactful signing for Spurs and a useful addition to Conte’s squad.

Moving forward, unless the Spurs boss wants to keep hold of Sanchez, we feel that cashing in on him to fund a move for Disasi is definitely something that Levy should think about.
