Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor ‘would be very surprised’ if Tottenham Hotspur were to part with midfield duo Pape Matar Sarr and Bryan Gil this month.
Both players have been linked with moves away from the club after limited game-time this season, with Gil making just three appearances in the Premier League, sparking rumours about a return to Valencia.
Sarr is reportedly a target for Serie A outfit Salernitana, having only made two substitute appearances in the Premier League, although Taylor believes that the pair are set to stay at Tottenham after recently getting more of a look-in under Antonio Conte.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT when asked about Sarr’s future, the journalist replied: “I would be very surprised if Spurs offload both him and Bryan Gil. Obviously, in recent weeks, they’ve really sort of caught the eye in a time of need for Spurs when they’ve had injuries.”
TIF thoughts on Pape Matar Sarr and Bryan Gil staying…
Even though the duo have struggled to break into the first team for the majority of the season, they have started to show some promising signs in recent weeks, and Conte should look to keep hold of them both.
Albeit against League One opposition in Portsmouth, Sarr looked very impressive in the recent FA Cup clash, second only to Harry Kane in terms of the match rating that he received from SofaScore as he was awarded 7.7 on a day when he won five tackles and eight duels in an industrious display.
As for Gil, he is still just 21 so has plenty of time to develop. Indeed, he recently received praise from journalist Charlie Eccleshare for his performance against Crystal Palace, who claimed that the youngster is now playing with ‘confidence’ after getting his first assist of the season that night.
