Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min yet again failed to live up to his lofty expectations in the North London Derby defeat.

Spurs were completely second best in the first half with a nightmare own goal from Hugo Lloris and a fantastically struck Martin Odegaard finish putting the Gunners 2-0 up at half-time and in control.

However, it could’ve been different with Son wasting a glorious chance as he shot straight at Aaron Ramsdale whilst one on one with the Gunners stopper with the score at 1-0.

The 30-year-old didn’t kick on from his goal in the 4-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace last time out with just six goals in 24 games in all competitions this season a measly return.

In his player ratings on football.london after the game, Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold didn’t hold back on his review of the South Korean’s display, he wrote:

“Forced Ramsdale into a save in the first half and had an effort deflected over but this was another sub-par showing from the South Korean. The Golden Boot winner is just not making the impact he is capable of at the moment. 4”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

A miserable season so far for Son set up the perfect stage for him to kick on from him bagging his first goal since October and a first in the league since September.

But it wasn’t to be for him or Tottenham on the day with the forwards only shot on target being the effort that proved to be one of Spurs’ best chances all game, he later had four shots blocked, lost all his duels and didn’t attempt a dribble with him being completely snuffed out (via Sofascore).

He lost possession 14 times from just 43 touches as he lasted the full 90 minutes with Conte still clinging on to the hope that he can produce a moment of magic we’ve become accustomed to, but yet again Son drew a blank.
