Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas has shared an update regarding reported Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Pedro Porro.
The north London club have been linked with a move for the Sporting right-back in recent weeks despite him only becoming a permanent player for the Portuguese club during the previous summer transfer window.
Now that the January window has opened, a big update has emerged regarding the Lilywhites’ reported interest in the full-back.
In a recent Twitter post, Thomas had this to say on the matter.
He said: “Tottenham have cooled initial interest in Pedro Porro. Sporting CP insistent they pay £40m release clause in full.”
The Spaniard initially joined Sporting on a loan deal from Manchester City back in 2020 before joining on a permanent basis last summer in a deal worth £7m.
During his time with the club, the 23-year-old has made 93 appearances across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and delivering 19 assists along the way.
Having provided 10 assists in 21 appearances this season, it’s easy to see why Antonio Conte’s side have been linked with him.
In addition to that, Porro has made more crosses into the 18-yard box (11) than any other Sporting player in the league this season.
This could make him a suitable signing for Spurs and Conte’s system, as they have made more crosses into the 18-yard box (53) than any other side in the division.

Taking all of this into account, we feel that the north London club should definitely reassess their stance over the Sporting full-back and pay what is needed to bring him back to England.
