Fabrizio Romano has shared an update regarding Nottingham Forest’s potential transfer swoop for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the Midlands club are eyeing a move for the PSG shot-stopper as a result of Dean Henderson picking up a thigh injury.

After that, Romano revealed that the Costa Rica international is open to joining Steve Cooper’s side this month.

With the January transfer deadline rapidly approaching, the journalist has shared an update regarding the French club’s stance on potentially allowing Navas to leave.

In a recent Twitter post, Romano had this to say on the matter.

He said: “Keylor Navas has accepted the idea of joining Nottingham Forest already two days ago, he’d be open to the move #NFFC

“Paris Saint-Germain, expected to make decision soon — it’s up to them as PSG would pay main part of the salary.”

At the age of 36, Navas is a vastly experienced goalkeeper that has won numerous top-level trophies throughout his career, including three Champions League titles.

With 454 club appearances to his name, the shot-stopper has conceded 436 goals and kept 166 clean sheets along the way.

Having not made an appearance in Ligue 1 this season, it’s easy to see why he’d be open to making a move to the Premier League.

His efforts for the French club last season saw Navas show how much of an impressive goalkeeper he is despite his advanced age.

For example, with 78 shots on target faced, the Costa Rican saved 60 of them, leaving him with the highest save percentage (79.5%) in the entire division.

Taking all of this into account, with Romano now revealing that PSG will be making a decision about Navas’ next step soon, it’s safe to say that everyone connected to Forest will be hoping that the French club will sanction a move for the goalkeeper before the end of the month.
