Nottingham Forest are reportedly eyeing a transfer move for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

At the age of 36, the Costa Rica international has made 269 combined appearances for PSG and his previous club Real Madrid, keeping 101 clean sheets in the process and winning numerous trophies including three Champions League titles.

With current Forest goalkeeper Dean Henderson recently picking up a thigh injury, the Midlands club have set their sights on bringing in the highly-decorated PSG figure as a replacement.

According to a recent report from French media outlet, Le Parisien (via Sport Witness), Forest are one of the clubs interested in signing the shot-stopper, who PSG wouldn’t be against allowing to leave this month.

The report also adds that while Navas is valued at around €5m (£4.4m) it has been suggested that his wages could be a stumbling block for any club looking to sign him.

Indeed, the reporter claims that Forest want to get ahead of the game.

Given the pedigree that Navas has of playing at the top level of European football, it’s clear that he has the quality and the experience to be a useful addition to Steve Cooper’s squad in the absence of Henderson.

Praised in the past for his “outstanding” performances by journalist Ives Galarcep, the veteran has only made one appearance for PSG this season, which suggests that a move to the Premier League to play regularly while Henderson is out could be a tempting prospect for the £276k-per-week goalkeeper.

Last season saw the Costa Rican make 18 Ligue 1 appearances, across which he ended up facing 78 shots on target and making 60 saves, leaving him with the highest save percentage at the club (79.5%).

Comparing that to Henderson’s efforts in the Premier League this season, the Englishman has saved 52 of the 85 shots at goal he’s faced, giving him a save percentage of 65.9% having made the same number of appearances that Navas did last season.

Moving forward, if Forest can secure a deal for the PSG goalkeeper that would be financially suitable for all parties, this could be a very smart move for the club to make.
