Newcastle United have reportedly been in contact with the agent of Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko over a potential transfer deal.
With 149 appearances for the German club to his name across their senior and youth sides, the 18-year-old has scored 153 goals and delivered 15 assists in the process.
As things stand, the teenager is set to see his contract at Dortmund expire at the end of the season, which has led to numerous clubs in the Premier League turning their attention to his situation.
According to a recent report from 90 Min, Newcastle and Chelsea have recently made contact with the agent of Moukoko, who Dortmund are apparently struggling to secure a new deal for and are expected to see him leave in the summer. However, he is demanding £177k per week for a new deal at Dortmund, so he’d likely want the same at a new club.
The report also adds that other top-flight clubs such as Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United have also asked to be kept in the loop about the striker’s situation.
Having made 14 Bundesliga appearances this season, Moukoko has found the net six times and provided four assists for his current side.
Previously described by former teammate Erling Haaland as “the biggest talent in the world”, the teenager has made more shots on target (15) than any other player at Dortmund from 26 attempts in total, leaving him with the highest percentage of shots on target at the club (57.7%).
Would you like to see Newcastle sign Moukoko?
With this clear goalscoring talent in mind, it’s easy to see why so many English clubs have got their eyes on the young striker.
Bearing in mind how two of Newcastle’s three senior strikers have hit the age of 30, securing a deal for Moukoko, who has been described as a ‘wonder’ player, could be a great way for the Tyneside club to refresh that area of the squad and bring in someone that could be a long-term figure at St. James’ Park.
Moving forward, we feel that the Magpies should do all they can to beat their Premier League rivals to the Dortmund star’s signature, either this month or in the summer.
