Keith Downie has voiced his opinion about whether or not Newcastle United could land an Amazon-style documentary in the future.

It’s something that has become very much associated with sport and football in recent times with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Manchester City all getting behind-the-scenes documentaries with Amazon Prime.

Newcastle fans may well have got a taste of what one could look like on Tyneside when Sky Sports showed the inside of the Magpies’ dressing room after they progressed into the Carabao Cup semi-finals, showcasing the infamous dancing of Dan Burn.

It had been reported in the summer that companies were in talks with PIF over engineering a behind-scenes series when they first took over the club, although that was never likely to happen until they got their feet firmly under the table.

While Downie couldn’t confirm nor deny if anything was in the pipeline, speaking on the Loaded Mag YouTube channel, he claimed it’s certainly a possibility in the near future.

He said: “I’m afraid I’m not really able to say, but I do think that there probably is grounds to the story in terms of what’s happening at Newcastle.

Will Newcastle finish in the top four?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“I would expect the likes of Amazon and Netflix to be looking into something like that [but] I’m afraid I’m not really allowed to say what the situation is at the moment.”

TIF Thoughts on a behind-scenes documentary…

The fact that Downie appeared to imply he was keeping a secret may suggest there have been developments with regard to a future series.

It would be something that fans would love to see after getting a small glimpse during the week, especially if they could get one with the club in the Champions League for the first time in a lot of fans’ lifetimes.

However, having cameras in and around dressing rooms and training grounds won’t likely be something that appeal to Eddie Howe as it may make him tweak or change the way he does things and talks to his players.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

They certainly don’t always end well, however, just look at the Arsenal series where they missed out on the top four and the Sunderland Netflix series which saw them miss out on promotion back into the Championship, although if it brings in enough money, PIF could soon sanction such a move.
