Manchester United have been linked with a move for AS Monaco’s teenage goalkeeper Lisandru Olmeta.

The Red Devils have already bolstered their ‘keeper ranks this month by signing Jack Butland on loan from Crystal Palace. Butland will provide competition to David de Gea alongside Tom Heaton, with De Gea out of contract at the end of the season.

It looks as if United are looking at the future, though, with Olmeta, son of former Champions League-winning goalkeeper Pascal Olmeta, of interest at Old Trafford.

Foot Mercato shared a story regarding Olmeta on Thursday evening, name-checking the Red Devils as a club who are eyeing the teenager.

They aren’t alone, though, with Chelsea, Leeds, Manchester City and West Ham also seemingly keen, with Olmeta having a professional contract offer on the table from his current employers.

TIF thoughts on Olmeta…

It looks as if Olmeta could follow in his father’s footsteps, with the Frenchman starring for his country at last year’s U17 European Championships.

Therefore, it could be a wise move for United to make their move for Olmeta in the coming months, where he could initially ply his trade in the club’s academy before looking to break into Erik ten Hag’s first-tam plans.

De Gea was only 20 years of age when he made the move to Old Trafford and has gone on to make 511 appearances for the club, and who knows, Olmeta could prove to be the Spaniard’s eventual long-term successor.
