Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Lyon right-back Malo Gusto according to journalist Fabrice Hawkins.

Having worked his way through Lyon’s youth ranks, the 19-year-old has made 54 senior appearances for the French club, providing six assists along the way.

Despite still only being a teenager, Gusto has found two big Premier League clubs making moves to try and land a potential transfer deal for him.

In a recent Twitter post, Hawkins revealed that United have been in contact with Gusto to ask the player not to rush in making a transfer decision as Chelsea have apparently made an offer to sign the defender.

In this quiz, we will take a look at who topped the club's scoring charts and when. First, who was United's top scorer this season?

This season has seen the youngster make 15 Ligue 1 appearances for his current side and show how much of an impressive full-back he already is.

For example, from a defensive point of view, Gusto has the third-highest combined total of tackles and interceptions (55) at Lyon as well as the fourth-highest number of clearances (19) and third-highest for blocks (21).

Then from an attacking standpoint, the right-back has completed more passes into the 18-yard box (31) than any of his teammates and delivered more crosses (91).

His overall performances have earned the defender a season rating of 7.02/10 from WhoScored, making him the fourth-highest-rated player currently at Lyon.

Described by talent scout Jacek Kulig as a “superb” figure of Lyon’s youth ranks, it’s easy to see why he has the likes of Chelsea and United scrambling around him.

Moving forward, if the Red Devils can convince Gusto to not make a decision about potentially joining Chelsea this month and keep him at Lyon until the summer, at which point he’ll be set to enter the final year of his contract, this could give them a better chance of landing a deal for him.

However, given how extravagant the west London club have been recently in terms of spending money to sign new players, this could be a hard task for United.
