British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is thought to be preparing an offer to potentially take control at Manchester United, according to Football Insider.

The Glazers could well end their 18-year ownership at Old Trafford this year and have reportedly invited bids up until mid-February.

The Telegraph have claimed in recent days that United have already received interest from the Middle East, Asia and America, whereas Ratcliffe is also monitoring the situation. However, it looks as if the 70-year-old, who is worth $15.5bn (£12.7bn), is now putting together an offer to buy the club.

Football Insider‘s Pete O’Rourke shared a story on Saturday regarding a possible takeover. He said that Ratcliffe is preparing a formal offer, with the Glazers wanting to sell by April.

O’Rourke added that United may end up receiving a world-record sum for a football club of around £8m should a complete takeover materialise, although other sources have claimed that £4m is a more realistic figure.

TIF thoughts on potential Ratcliffe takeover…

Erik ten Hag has turned things around on the pitch at Old Trafford in recent months, although plenty of United supporters are still against the Glazers, so this update may come as a welcome one to those wanting a change of ownership.

Ratcliffe’s offer could be dependent on the club finishing in the top four, although that appears to be on the cards following a fine run of form in the Premier League.

Ten Hag’s side are currently on course to qualify for the Champions League, so this year could be an hugely exciting one both on and off the pitch for United.
