Manchester United are reportedly in ‘deeper discussions’ over a potential move for Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries.

The Red Devils currently have two senior right-backs on the books under Erik ten Hag in Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The latter played just four minutes of action prior to the break for the World Cup but has featured heavily in recent weeks, with United winning seven games in succession since domestic duties returned just under a month ago.

However, it looks as if an addition on the right-hand side could be on the cards in Dumfries, who has been called a ‘very exciting’ and ‘effective‘ player by members of the Italian media.

Sport Witness shared an update from TuttoMercatoWeb regarding Dumfries on Monday. They claimed that Inter are ready to do a deal at €40m (£35.4m) if anyone is willing to offer that amount, with United and Chelsea named in the report.

Those at Old Trafford have ‘deepened discussions’ without making an official proposal, with Inter making it clear that the Dutch defender can leave the Nerazzurri this month if the right offer arrives.

TIF thoughts on possible Dumfries move…

It looks as if a move for Dumfries could be one to keep an eye on over the coming weeks, but any such transfer may depend on Wan-Bissaka’s future.

Crystal Palace and Wolves have been name-checked with an interest in the Englishman, although Ten Hag has claimed the right-back still has a future in Manchester.

Therefore, you’d expect that if Wan-Bissaka remains at the club, a deal for Dumfries may not be needed at this moment in time.
