Liverpool are reportedly ‘interested’ in signing Frankfurt midfielder Jesper Lindstrom.

Jurgen Klopp’s side got back to winning ways on Tuesday night with a 1-0 win away at Wolves in their FA Cup third round replay.

However, with them sitting in ninth place in the Premier League table, and ten points off of the UEFA Champions League places, reinforcements are still needed at Anfield.

As per Danish news outlet Tipsbladet, the Merseyside club are ‘interested’ in signing Lindstrom, but will face competition from Napoli for his signature.

Lindstrom has previously admitted that he is a ‘Liverpool fan’, and has apparently been ‘compared’ to Bayern Munich and Germany legend Thomas Muller.

TIF thoughts on Lindstrom to Liverpool…

Given that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner’s contracts expire in the summer, and both Jordan Henderson and Thiago are in their 30s, the Reds are in desperate need of freshening up their midfield.

Lindstrom is much younger at 22 years of age and more attack-minded, with his ability to play on both flanks as well as advanced in the middle of the park.

He has scored eight goals and made two assists in 22 games in total over all competitions so far this season (Transfermarkt), including netting in the Champions League.

Incidentally, as well as supporting Liverpool, Lindstrom has also admitted to idolising Reds legend Steven Gerrard as a child, so this could turn out to be a match made in heaven.
