Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Jude Bellingham’s father has a say in the midfielder’s next potential move for his son.

It is thought that Jude’s father, Mark, would prefer a move to Premier League side Liverpool for his son, rather than to La Liga outfit Real Madrid.

There’s plenty of interest in the Borussia Dortmund midfielder, with other clubs linked including Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United, per The Athletic.

The 19-year-old currently has 12 goal contributions from 22 matches in all competitions for the German side, making him a hot property in world football.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones has claimed that although it’s ‘significant’ his dad likes the club and has a ‘massive say’ in Bellingham’s future, it won’t necessarily give Jurgen Klopp’s team the edge in negotiations.

He said: “The thing is, that’s just one of the factors and there are so many involved in picking a new club. So actually, I don’t think Liverpool have much of an edge over the others, even if it does seem to be significant that his dad likes them and that his dad has a massive say in what happens next.”

It’s all well and good having the advantage when it comes to those close to the player, but Liverpool may need to cough up a huge fee first and foremost.

When you consider how well Bellingham is doing at such a young age, he will surely cost a lot and there are plenty of potential suitors chasing his signature which could prompt a bidding war. Indeed, Dortmund are thought to value the midfielder at £130m.

Liverpool find themselves underperforming this season as they are 16 points off the top spot in the Premier League and seven points behind fourth place.

Adding the English midfielder into the mix and his eye for creativity could well be the missing ingredient for Klopp’s side in the middle of the park, but whether a transfer is even realistic at this stage remains to be seen.
