Conor McGilligan has compared a transfer update on Leeds target Azzedine Ounahi to their failed pursuit of AC Milan forward Charles de Ketelaere.

The Whites appear to be in the race to sign Ounahi after already bringing in Max Wober and Georginio Rutter this month.

Reports have stated that Leeds have upped their offer for the Morocco international to €25m (£22.2m), which is still short of Angers’ valuation of €30m (£26.6m). It is believed that Napoli have offered just €15m (£13.3m) for the versatile midfielder, but according to Calciomercato, the Serie A club is his preferred destination.

Leeds fan and YouTube presenter McGilligan took to Twitter to react to the news regarding Ounahi’s preference for a move to Italy.

He simply said ‘CDK part 2’, referring to summer transfer target De Ketelaere, who ended up making the move to AC Milan even after the Whites had agreed on a €40m (£35.4m) deal with Club Brugge.

TIF thoughts on McGilligan’s reaction…

De Ketelaere’s preference was always to move to Milan over Leeds, so you can see why McGilligan has made this comparison with Ounahi.

Should the Moroccan have his heart set on a move to Napoli, then perhaps it would be best for the Whites to look at alternative midfield targets.

They may well be fighting a losing battle when it comes to Ounahi, and you’d expect that the Yorkshire club will want a new midfielder after losing the services of Mateusz Klich this month.

Failing to add a new senior midfielder would leave Jesse Marsch with just three first-team defensive and central midfield options, which might not be enough heading into the second half of the season.
