Leeds United are looking to secure a transfer deal for Hoffenheim striker Georginio Rutter according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The 20-year-old joined the German club back in February 2021 from Stade Rennes and has since gone on to score 11 goals and deliver eight assists in 64 appearances for his current side.

Even though the youngster still has over three years left on his contract at Hoffenheim, Rutter has found himself being linked with a move to the Premier League.

In a recent Twitter post, Plettenberg had this to say on the situation.

He said: “X News #Rutter: Leeds United wants him NOW! Hoffenheim is aware of the interest and it could become a massive deal. Talks around a transfer fee between €30-40m. The 20 y/o is open for the move. #LUFC.”

Leeds United fans, who were these players sold to? Starting with an easy one: Alan Smith

Despite only scoring two goals and providing two assists in 15 Bundesliga appearances this season, Rutter has still managed to show how much of a dangerous attacking figure he can be.

For example, in addition to having more shots on target (14) than any other player at the club, he’s also made more successful dribbles (32) than any of his teammates.

Bearing in mind how only four clubs in the Premier League have a lower percentage of shots on target than Leeds (30.8%) this season, it’s easy to see why they are after someone like Rutter that carries a significant goal threat.

Rutter’s overall performances have earned him a season rating of 6.82/10 from WhoScored, making him the third-highest rated outfield player at the club.

This rating would also make him the third-highest rated player at Leeds by the same metric, which suggests that he could be a top player for Jesse Marsch’s side.

Moving forward, with the player apparently open to making a move to Elland Road, this could be a very exciting investment for Victor Orta to make, especially if Rutter is able to hit the ground running in front of goal at the Yorkshire club.
