Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville is facing a one-month spell out through injury, Adam Pope reports.

Summerville has become a key player under Jesse Marsch in recent months after receiving his first Premier League start against Leicester City back in October.

The 21-year-old scored in four successive Premier League games prior to the break for the World Cup, including winners against Liverpool and Bournemouth.

He featured in the club’s FA Cup clash against Cardiff City last weekend but was on the end of a nasty challenge early on, which appears to have done some damage.

Pope took to Twitter on Thursday, relaying updates from Marsch’s pre-Aston Villa press conference.

He stated that Summerville is set to be out for a month, with ‘Marsch angry’ as he feels some players ‘are not protected enough’ by referees.

TIF thoughts on Summerville’s injury…

The Dutch winger has impressed in recent months and received praise from BT Sport pundit Michael Owen, who called him ‘exceptional’.

And given his goalscoring exploits since breaking into the team, this injury news comes as a blow to all associated at Elland Road, with Luis Sinisterra also still sidelined.

That leaves Marsch’s options out wide limited with the likes of Wilfried Gnonto and Jack Harrison potentially in line to start against Villa this evening, although potential new signing Georginio Rutter can also turn out on the wing if needed.
