Leeds United will decide whether or not to move for Angers midfielder Azzedine Ounahi after signing Georginio Rutter, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Whites have bolstered their attacking options with a move for Rutter, who has signed a deal at Elland Road through to 2028.

He joins Max Wober in coming through the door this month, with a move for Ounahi – who has been described as ‘sensational’ by reporter Zach Lowy – also appearing to be a possibility.

Reports have claimed that the Whites have even offered the player a salary worth €2.5m (£2.21m) per year, with Romano sharing what he knows about the Morocco international.

Romano took to Twitter on Saturday, saying that ‘after’ a deal for Rutter, Leeds ‘will decide how to proceed’ on Ounahi. The transfer expert said that initial talks have taken place both with Angers and the player, although Napoli are also keen.

TIF thoughts on potential Ounahi move…

Victor Orta has bolstered two key areas of Jesse Marsch’s squad, left-back and centre-forward. However, midfield could be another area which needs strengthening, especially after Mateusz Klich left Yorkshire for the MLS.

Ounahi can play as a holding, central or attacking midfielder and appears to have taken his game to the next level following an impressive World Cup, with ESPN writer Mark Ogden naming him in his team of the tournament.

Therefore, a swoop for the Angers midfielder could be a wise move, especially as the Whites are flirting with Premier League relegation once again.
