Fulham are reportedly in talks to land a deadline-day transfer move for FC Twente defender Joshua Brenet.

The west London club also look to complete a deal to sign Torino midfielder Sasa Lukic before the January transfer window closes later today.

In addition to that, the Cottagers are now looking to add some strength and depth to their defence.

According to a recent report from The Athletic, Fulham are in talks to sign Brenet before tonight’s transfer deadline as their proposed move for Cedric continues to stall.

The 28-year-old right-back only joined Twente back in the previous January window on a free transfer from German club Hoffenheim.

Since then, the Dutchman has made 35 appearances for his current side across all competitions, scoring seven goals and delivering three assists along the way.

Having featured in all but two of Twente’s games this season, this highlights how important he is for the club, who may well be reluctant to let the full-back leave halfway through the campaign.

Do Fulham need to sign a right-back today?

His efforts on the pitch in the Eredivisie this season have seen Brenet show how much of a capable player he is, particularly from an attacking point of view.

Specifically, in addition to scoring four goals and providing two assists in 18 league appearances, the defender has also racked up the fourth-highest number of progressive passes (60) at the club as well as the joint-highest total of successful dribbles (24).

Then from a defensive standpoint, Brenet also has the third-highest number of recoveries (121) and the third-highest percentage for aerial duels won (63.2%) at Twente.

His overall performances have earned the player a season rating of 7.01/10 from WhoScored, leaving only four other figures at the club with higher ratings.

Taking all of this into account, it’s easy to see why Fulham are looking to bring the Dutchman to Craven Cottage before the end of the day, especially if they’re finding it hard to land a deal for Cedric.
