Journalist Dean Jones says that ‘people around’ Frank Lampard are ‘fearing the worst’ with regards to the Everton manager’s future.

As per The Daily Mail, Lampard is the front runner to be the next manager sacked in the Premier League, after boos rang around Goodison Park following their 2-1 loss to bottom-of-the-table Southampton over the weekend.

As per Whoscored, only Bournemouth have spent less time this season in the opposition third of the pitch than the Toffees, while the Blues also rank poorly in terms of shots per game, pass success rate and Whoscored’s overall performance rating.

The likes of Wayne Rooney and Sean Dyche have been touted as potential replacements already, as Lampard really seems to be on the brink.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones says that ‘people around’ Lampard are ‘fearing the worst’ in terms of his future, and that there may even be an ‘acceptance’ of his fate:

“It’s a really, really difficult moment. I’m hearing that there are people around Lampard fearing the worst. I guess there comes a point when you have an acceptance of your fate and how it’s not going to turn in your favour.”

TIF thoughts on Lampard’s future…

Given that the Toffees are currently in the relegation zone and only off the bottom of the table on goal difference, it seems inevitable that Lampard may get the sack very soon.

They have not won in any of their last seven games in the division, losing five of them, and will not want to be involved in another relegation battle come the end of the season.

Nonetheless, Saturday afternoon’s fixture away at West Ham United has become a huge one with the Hammers just above the Blues in 18th place, and the board have a big decision to make over whether to keep their faith in Lampard for it.
