Everton are reportedly aiming to secure a late transfer move for KRC Genk striker Paul Onuachu.

After scoring 74 goals and providing 23 assists in 181 appearances for FC Midtjylland, the 28-year-old joined his current club back in the 2019 summer transfer window.

Since then, the Nigerian has further proved his attacking talent by finding the net 85 times in 134 appearances across all competitions, taking his club total to 164 goals.

According to a recent report from French media outlet Foot Mercato, Everton are preparing a late bid to sign Onuachu before tonight’s deadline.

Do you remember who Alex Iwobi was signed from?

The report also adds that fellow Premier League strugglers, Southampton, are also looking to lodge a bid for the striker.

Having scored 16 goals in 19 league games this season, the centre-forward has racked up the second-highest rate of shots on target per 90 minutes (1.6) and the third-highest for goals per shot (0.29) in the league.

Bearing in mind how the Toffees have the joint-third lowest rate of goals per shot (0.07) in the Premier League this season, it’s easy to see why they are looking to secure a late deal for Onuachu and add him to their squad.

Would you be concerned if Everton don't sign an attacker today?

To give further insight into what sort of player he is, Belgian defender Rasmus Carstensen had this to say about him:

“He is a class guy, I can’t say anything negative about him. Paul is just crazy good at football. He is big and strong, and he also likes to dribble.

“When he stands up in front of someone during interval training and gets a ball, you just have to try to push him away. So he is a two-meter tall man who weighs 100 kilos.”

Taking all of this into account, we feel that this could be a crucial signing for Sean Dyche and Everton to make given their issues in front of goal and the clear pedigree that Onuachu has in terms of being a regular goalscorer.
