Everton are reportedly interested in signing Stade Rennes winger Kamaldeen Sulemana before the end of the January transfer window.

The Merseyside club were recently dealt a significant transfer blow as a deal for Arnaut Danjuma was snatched away from them at the last minute thanks to Tottenham Hotspur coming in and taking him away from the Toffees.

Despite this unfortunate setback, the Goodison Park outfit have another attacking figure in their sights.

According to a recent report from French media outlet L’Equipe, Everton have an eye on Sulemana as an alternative to Danjuma.

The report also adds that fellow Premier League club Southampton and Dutch side PSV Eindhoven have had bids for the attacker rejected this month.

Do you remember who Alex Iwobi was signed from?

After scoring 14 goals and delivered eight assists in 43 appearances for FC Nordsjaelland, the 20-year-old joined Rennes back in the 2021 summer transfer window.

Since then, he’s found the net six times and supplied four assists in 46 appearances across all competitions.

Do you think Everton will avoid relegation this season?

To highlight what sort of player he is, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag said this about him before he made his move to France:

“He brings power and depth, on and off the ball. It’s an important quality. More and more players nowadays want the ball [played] at their feet instead of making runs. He can make those runs and he has incredible speed.”

Having only started two of the 13 Ligue 1 appearances he’s made this season, a move to the Premier League to help the Toffees avoid relegation could be an exciting challenge for Sulemana.

With Anthony Gordon being linked with a move away from Goodison Park this month, bringing Sulemana in before the winter window shuts could be an ideal way for Everton to not only forget about Danjuma, but also replace Gordon if he were to end up leaving.

Moving forward, if the Toffees are able to secure a deal for the Rennes youngster in the coming days, this could give the team a boost to their chances of avoiding relegation, especially if he’s able to hit the ground running and start finding the back of the net.
