TalkSport man Alex Crook has claimed that Everton is ‘very keen’ on Manchester United prospect Anthony Elanga.

The Toffees have recently spoken to the agent of the Swedish star according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Elanga has found it difficult to find minutes this season with the Red Devils, having played 13 Premier League matches but only five of those games have been from the start.

There’s been a lot of chatter about the potential of the youngster in recent years, with his former Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer described him as ‘electric’ in the summer of 2021.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Crook said that there’s ‘interest’ in Elanga but it would ‘depend’ on if the Red Devils ‘bolster’ their attacking options.

He stated, “I know there’s interest in Elanga. Bournemouth were close to signing him in the summer.

“I think Everton are very keen as well, but that would depend, I think, on United bringing in a sort of Memphis Depay to bolster numbers because, at the moment, he’s still coming on towards the end of games and still playing his part in the team.”

TIF’s view on Crook’s comments…

Interestingly, he is a part of the CAA Stellar player agency, which is the same agency that Jordan Pickford belongs to.

We believe that bringing in Elanga on loan could be a risk for Everton, as they’ll need more established players to come in during the January window.

The Toffees have had a really poor season they find themselves in the bottom three and short on goals, with only Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest have a lower tally than Everton’s 14 league goals.

Elanga may only be 20-years-old but his return for Man United has been underwhelming, as he’s picked up seven goal contributions from 43 appearances in all competitions.

Everton needs someone who can bring firepower for the here and now, and we don’t believe Elanga is the man to do that.

Frank Lampard knows he’s under pressure at the moment, but if he can bring in new recruits that can surge the club up the table by the end of the season he could prove many nay-sayers totally wrong.
